The Supreme Court has intervened in the ongoing controversy surrounding the alleged fake certificate scam in West Bengal, putting a hold on the CBI inquiry ordered by a single bench of the Calcutta High Court. On Saturday, the apex court not only stayed all proceedings before the Calcutta High Court but also issued notices to both the West Bengal government and the petitioner involved in the case.
The matter, related to irregularities in the issuance of reserve category certificates and admissions of MBBS students in government medical colleges and hospitals in West Bengal, is scheduled to be heard by the Supreme Court on January 29.
